＊what withは口語でよく使われる表現。whatが省略されることもある。

・what with…used to introduce the reasons for an unpleasant situation：～やらで

冬になると肌がとても乾燥するから、保湿クリームが欠かせない。

＊gonnaはgoing toの短縮形。

 ・highlights…strands of hair dyed a lighter color than the rest：メッシュ

「ほとぼりがさめるのを待つしかないね。」

“Not again! People are trolling me on twitter.”

“You just gotta let the dust settle.”

＊gottaはhave got toの短縮形でhave to(～しなければならない)と同じ意味。アメリカ口語でよく使われる。

・Not again!…an expression of exasperation about something bad that has happened again：いい加減にしろよ！

・troll…deliberately upset online by posting inflammatory or offensive comments：～のもとに荒らしコメントを投稿する

・dust…confusion or disturbance：騒動

騒音があったにもかかわらず、彼女はすぐに眠りについた。

She quickly fell asleep despite the loud noise.

＊soonよりquicklyのほうがより口語的。

・fall asleep… begin sleeping：眠りにつく
