・run out…be used up：使い果たされる；消耗する

・use up…use all of：～を使い果たす

・guess…form an opinion of from little or no evidence：～と見当をつける

・switch out…replace with a new one：～を新しいものと入れ替える

「最悪！鳥にフンをかけられた。」

「きっといいことあるよ。」

「それがどうした？嫌なものは嫌なんだ！」

“How disgusting! A bird pooped on me.”

“It’ll give you good luck.”

“I don’t care. It’s still disgusing!”

＊「鳥にフンをかけられた」→「鳥が私にフンをかけた」とすることでシンプルな表現になる。 

・disgusting…causing disgust：ひどくうんざりするような

・disgust…strong dislike：強い嫌悪感

資本主義社会では、金持ちはより金持ちに、貧乏はより貧乏になる。

In a capitalist society, the rich become richer and the poor become poorer.

＊the rich＝rich people / the poor＝poor people

しばらく正座をしていると足がしびれて動けなくなる。

My legs fell asleep after sitting in Japanese style for a while.

＊get numbもfall asleepと同じ意味。

 ・fall asleep…become unable to feel anything：感覚がなくなる

[Q5] 

大きな地震が起こったら、私の家は倒壊してしまうだろう。

If there’s a big earthquake, my house will collapse.

＊「地震が起こる」はthere is an earthquakeがよく使われる。an earthquake occursはよりフォーマル。

・collapse…break apart and fall down：倒壊する
